The NHLC COVID-19 Task Force Provides Recommendation to the Governor of Nevada


Las Vegas, NV - The Nevada Hispanic Legislative Caucus’s COVID-19 Task Force has provided Governor Sisolak recommendations from experts in the Latino community on how to prepare our vulnerable community the effects of COVID-19.


Edgar Flores, Chair of the Nevada Hispanic Legislative Caucus, said, “Our Task Force is moving swiftly and effectively to come up with recommendations from the ground up. I am proud we have such a diverse cross-section of the community represented. Dr. Partida Corona has dedicated his life to providing bilingual medical care; we are honored to have him provide his expertise.”


“Our COVID-19 Task Force is working with medical experts like Dr. Partida Corona and Puentes Las Vegas to provide our community with the most current information. We will continue to connect our community to resources for healthcare, unemployment, food distribution centers, and rent assistance,” said Selena Torres, Assemblywoman.


The COVID-19 Task Force will provide expert analysis and recommendations so that we can better inform our community. The NHLC COVID-19 Task Force has set up a website, AyudaNevada.com, to provide information and an avenue for our community to ask questions. Governor recommendations are available upon request.

The Nevada Hispanic Legislative Caucus to create the NHLC COVID-19 Task Force


Las Vegas, NV - The Nevada Hispanic Legislative Caucus is building a coalition of community organizers, medical professionals, and strategic leaders to work together and share critical information from the local, state, and federal government.


Edgar Flores, Chair of the Nevada Hispanic Legislative Caucus, said, “Our community is powerful, resourceful and resilient. We will make sure our community is well informed about COVID-19 and the changing landscape. I have asked Assemblywoman Torres to lead these efforts and I have full confidence that we’ve assembled the right team for the job. We are transforming our NevadaHLC.com website to a resource center to provide information regarding education, food pantry, essential businesses, and more.”


“We must act now. Families are losing their jobs and need reassurance. We will pull through together. Immigrant and migrant communities are looking for guidance. I look forward to working for the people of the state of Nevada.” said Selena Torres, Assemblywoman.
